📬 Welcome GH1 Customers

This page is for GH1Web customers who are still using email that comes with hosting — or thinking about it.

Email is one of the most critical parts of your business — and the truth is, shared hosting just isn’t the right place for it. I’ll explain why below, and what I personally use (and recommend) instead.

đź”’ What You Need to Know About Email

Whether your GH1Web plan includes email or not, all hosting-based email runs on a shared server — and that comes with risk.

I personally don’t have any of my email on a shared hosting server — and I don’t recommend you do either.

If your email is mission-critical, it shouldn’t be sitting on any company’s shared hosting server.

That’s why we strongly recommend switching to Google Workspace’s version of Gmail. You get a professional Gmail account with 30 GB or 2 TB of storage — all branded with your own domain name.

It’s you@yourdomain.com, powered by Google’s servers, with all the reliability, tools, and trust your business needs.

  • âś… Professional domain-based email
  • âś… Powered by Google’s infrastructure
  • âś… Accessible on any device or email app
  • âś… Built for reliability, deliverability, and trust

You’re not just getting Gmail — you’re getting Gmail made professional, with your domain name, better deliverability, and full access to Google’s business-grade tools.

📥 Email Migration Made Easy

If you’re currently using GH1Web email (like you@yourdomain.com) through a program like Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird, you can move your messages directly into your new GH1 Mail (Gmail) account — even if the email address is the same.

Just set up both accounts in your email program — one using your old GH1Web server settings, and one using your new Google Workspace’s version of Gmail settings. They’ll show up as two separate accounts.

From there, simply drag and drop the emails or folders from the old account to the new one. Gmail will sync everything automatically.

  • âś… Works even if both accounts use the same email address
  • âś… Keeps all your folders, inbox, and sent mail intact
  • âś… Moves everything directly into your Google Workspace’s version of Gmail account

Don’t have a mail program set up? No problem. You can use
Mozilla Thunderbird
— it’s free and works perfectly as a migration tool.

In short: Just install it, load your old account and your new Gmail account, then drag and drop the emails you want to keep. It’s simple and fast.

  • âś… Thunderbird (Free – great for one-time migrations)
  • âś… Microsoft Outlook
  • âś… Apple Mail (macOS)

You’ll be up and running on Google Workspace’s version of Gmail — with your entire history intact and none of the risks of shared hosting email.

âť“ Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still use Gmail.com to check my email?
Yes. You’ll log in just like regular Gmail — but with your business address (e.g. you@yourdomain.com).

Can you move my email for me?
No. — and here’s why: Moving email for others creates support, security, and legal risks. But we’ll show you exactly how to do it yourself using free tools like Thunderbird.

Will you create my Google Workspace account for me?
No. You’ll sign up directly with Google to create your own account. We do not create, manage, or access your Google account — we simply help you connect it to your domain if needed.

Do I lose access to my old hosting email?
No. Your email will remain on the GH1Web server until you delete it. You can still check it any time by visiting yourdomain.com/webmail.

Do I need to delete my old email?
Once you’ve moved everything to Gmail, yes — you should log into webmail and delete old messages to free up hosting space.

🛠️ Thunderbird Setup Help

If you’re using Thunderbird to migrate your email, here’s how to connect your GH1Web email account so you can drag and drop messages to your Google Workspace Gmail account.

First, locate your account settings in cPanel:

  • Log in to your hosting control panel (cPanel).
  • Go to Email Accounts.
  • Click Connect Devices next to your email address.
  • Look for the IMAP (SSL/TLS) settings. You’ll need these in a moment.

Then, set up the account in Thunderbird:

  • Open Thunderbird and go to Account Settings > Add Mail Account.
  • Enter your name, email address (e.g., you@yourdomain.com), and password.
  • Select IMAP when prompted.
  • Use these typical settings (from your cPanel):
    Incoming (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.com, port 993, SSL/TLS
    Outgoing (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com, port 465 or 587, SSL/TLS
  • Authentication: Full email address + password.

Once connected, your emails will load — and you can begin dragging them over to your new Gmail inbox.
